Blonk Environmental Consultants operates in the domain of the agro-food production and the great spectrum of applications which vary from food and non-food to energy applications. The agro-food production is characterised by a strong societal dynamic and emotion. Key questions in the field of food, animal feed, non-food and energy applications are: Are we making good use of the limited space available for food and energy production. Is there enough space in the world to meet the demands of today’s production methods and trends in the consumption of agro-food product? Should biomass be used for food, feed or fuel? What are the consequences of our energy and food consumption patterns for climate change, and how can we minimise negative impacts? There is a growing perception in society that we need to comprehensively re-evaluate the sustainability of agro-food products. Blonk Environmental Consultants developes assessment methodologies and criteria and performs assessments. Our challenge within the multitude of sustainability issues is to find a good ratio between the sequence of issues that need to be adressed, the way they are adressed and in cooperation with whom they are adressed.
